Cyrus Rectangular Trivet
Cyrus trivet is a piece designed to be multi-functional at the highest level. It is arguably incredibly useful in its own right, as a medium sized dish for butter, cheese, bread, appetisers, or for a candle and as a base for a bowl, vase or glass. Also a great way to display jewellery and treasured pieces.
It is handcrafted in pure White Volakas marble in a small village in the north of Greece famous for its marble quarries and pays homage to ancient Greek civilization, especially to the Acropolis and Parthenon. Natural Volakas marble is a metamorphic rock that morphs from limestone under extreme heat and pressure deep within the earth. It also contains dolomite along with the limestone which gives it different colors and tones.
The traditions of marble carving and sculpture that goes back thousands of years to the famous Greek sculptors Phydias and Praxitelis are still alive today.
This Cyrus trivet is carved by hand and conveys a feeling of modernity while representing the luxuriousness of the material formed by nature and enhanced by human interpretation. It features a matte polish finish and is signed by the maker and designer. Since the designer does not like to paint the surface of the marble stone with transparent paints or resins, three coats of the highest possible level of protective sealant are applied instead. This will preserve both the piece and the natural feel of the marble.
